I have 25+ years of experience teaching private piano lessons and teach students of all ages from beginner to advanced. My first piano lesson at was at age 5 and I began teaching as a teenager under the supervision of an excellent teacher, my mother. As a university student at BYU I graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance where I studied with Dr. Irene Peery-Fox, Dr. Scott Holden and Dr. Jeffrey Shumway. In addition to classical piano performance my degrees included training in pedagogy, organ, and collaborative music. Upon graduation I spent the next few years at BYU as well as UVU as adjunct faculty where I taught both private piano lessons as well as general music and group piano classes.
I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music and am a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC). I currently serve on the State Board for the Utah chapter of NFMC as the Gold Cup Chairman. I am active in my local music teacher associations where I learn and get new ideas from other music teachers. My students have been winners of local competitions, have received top honors from NFMC and have gone on to earn degrees in Piano Performance at the university level.
Aside from my private studio, I am the accompanist for my children's elementary school choir, solo instruments and vocalists. I am also the organist for my local church congregation. Hiking, exercising and reading are some of my favorite hobbies. I have an awesome husband who is so supportive of my musical endeavors and together we have five children who are all budding pianists.
